Primary Pomegranate

Today was our Thursday painting group's day to paint.  Due to the snow and ice, there were just 3 of us who were here.  This is the painting I did today.  Michelle visited the Antique Mall in Wapakoneta and bought a sack full of still life items this week and this blue coffee pot and salt shaker were two of them  My contribution was a very ripe pomegranate.
This painting is 12" x 12" and is an oil painting painted on stretched canvas.  We had a great afternoon - painting, talking and drinking Irish coffee!  Very good drink on a very cold day!

This is really beautiful!!! The coffee pot is really metallic, and the shaker is really transparent, and the pomegranate is really ripe. The material behind and in front is soft. I admire how you get each of the different textures so true.
I can imagine this pic also done in watercolor!
Thanks, I love to see your work.

Very nice still life in color and composition :) I'm looking forward to the old barn WIP, too. Do you go back to a scene or photo or set-up and do it in another medium? Or, when you choose the medium and paint it, you're done?

Nicole,
Thank you for your comments - I was happy with this one. I plan to do this in watercolor.

Rhonda - I plan to work on the old barn today. Yes - I do often use the same set up for one than one media - usually oil and watercolor. I figure - as long as it is sitting there begging to be painting - I might as well should (paint it!) With this one I had better do it soon because the pomegranate is not going to be good too much longer. When i was a child in Cleveland, we children in the neighborhood used to pool our money and buy pomegranates at the local market. We would open them up and share the goodies - we thought it was such a treat! Fond memories.
