I taught my watercolor class tonight and was busy all day, so I did this small abstraction after I returned from class tonight. I drove home through freezing rain - the ice never did melt completely off of the windshield. We are in the midst of a winter storm that is supposed to last through Wednesday, so guess there will be lots of time to paint. :)
This quick watercolor is approximately 5" x 7" and is painted on some inexpensive 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper.
This is almost completely negative painting leaving the white of the paper for the flowers - I added some callagraphic detailing with the sharpened handle end of a paintbrush dipped in sepia watercolor paint. Sometimes I really enjoy getting all "loose!" You didn't know I could be a loose woman, did you?

I like it a lot! More!
Thanks, Nicole,
This was a quickie - maybe I should try putting some time and thought into it.
Only a quickie because you have so much talent and knowledge and just "know" where to put what!!
I have been looking back at you work, Barb, and really like it. I started to laugh when I read your narrative of this one, because the tag line o nthe classes I teach is "fast and loose." One day, a woman walked into a busy class of mine, and after I asked her if I could help her, she asked, "Is this the Free and Easy Class?" I said, "No, but we're all pretty fast and loose." The class howled, and the woman is now one of my best/favorite students!
Dee...Thanks for looking at my work - I did the same for yours! The "fast and loose" story is so cute. I am truly trying to be faster and looser!!! ;-0
Dee - forgot to tell you that you are a LOT looser then I! TEE HEE!
