Day #2: Waiting for Spring

This is a small watercolor painting, 4" x 5 1/2" and it is painted on 140 lb. Canson cold-pressed watercolor paper.  In this painting I tried to set a mood with color and worked basically wet-into-wet for the most part.  I drew the trees into it using the sharpened wooden end of a paint brush dipped in watercolor - I created my  browns with yellow ochre and violet. The colors in this palette were blue violet, ultramarine blue, violet and yellow ochre. I used a burnt umber watercolor pencil for some of the reflections in the water.

You've created a lovely mood with this one - a cold winter's evening :) Hope you are having a good day. We had our first real snow - with a bit left on the ground and roads (which haven't been treated yet).

Thanks, Rhonda...we also have snow on the ground but the roads are mostly clear now. They weren't too good this morning, though.
We are enjoying a quiet day, eating leftovers and watching football (at least d/h is!)
