On the Cusp

I started this painting 11 years ago...This painting is of my granddaughter, Jennifer, at my nieces wedding.  She was 12 years old - not yet an adult and not a child...that in-between time that is so difficult...thus the title "On The Cusp!"  She was sitting on the edge of the stage watching the guests dancing - probably bored out of her mind.  Today she is beginning her last year in a Physician's Assistant program and is 23 years old...also quite the beautiful young woman now!...no longer watching at weddings.
I never finished the painting - until this week - as I mentioned in a previous blog, I am trying to finish old paintings.  This work is 15" x 12" and is painted on 140 lb. Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper.

Debbie - yes - 11 years in the making, but actually only a couple of days of painting. There it was - sitting against the wall in my studio where I saw it all the time - talking to me...Well now she can take up residence somewhere else - maybe with my dear granddaughter!
