This was painted for the Watercolor Workshop February project - "all paint from one photo." The theme for this month is painting texture and the source photo for this painting certainly has a lot of texture. I decided to do this in a traditional manner - drawing in the ripples and painting around the ripples, one submerged rock at a time - from the top down. The final painting leaves a lot to be desired, but over-all I am happy with the results since I have never tried to paint water ripples before.
The painting is 7" x 5" and is painted on 140 lb. Fabriano Artistico cold-pressed watercolor paper.
