Intricacies

I have been experimenting with a new technique in painting foliage which involves splattering and splashing watercolor on the paper with a brush - letting the spatters fall where they may and splattering colors into colors.  For foliage they suggest 3 pools of paint - light yellow, quinacridone gold and Pthalo blue.  For the above painting I also added quinacridone rose violet, and then detailed the painting with a thin line Sharpie marker.

The painting below is the first I did using just the 3 suggested colors.  The result is a very loose, impressionistic painting, very unlike my style, but it works in it's own way.

The loosness of the bottom one really does work well. Love it

Thanks Angela - I was happy with it...wish I could paint like that all the time!
