This is my latest painting for the October show with Pamela Baker...her photographs and my paintings of them. This painting is on 140 lb. Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper and is 15" x 11". I love old buildings/barns/trucks, etc. and this fits right in with my favorite subjects. Pamela has a knack for finding these wonderful old subjects here in western Ohio and since my mobility is very limited these days due to spinal stenosis, she graciously allows me to use her photographs as source pictures. Oh Barb! I love this one, especially that splash of color from the cement (?) mixer! This one just speaks to me.
Beautiful !!!
I love this too! I like the texture and color of the house.
Susan - I always love your comments and also love that the cement mixer "speaks" to you! I made that my focal point and thought maybe I overdid the color - I am glad you think it is okay.
Thanks Nicole and Laura - Laura, I used sepia in various intensities for the house - I think that color of brown is cool enough to portray a very old building. I used an angle brush ( 1/4") for the suggestion of boards on the building- often overlapping my strokes and building up color.
Gorgeous texture and muted color on everything and then that pop of orange = great!
Thanks, Rhonda!
