I have been working on a poured painting of a graveyard for rusty vintage trucks. I finished the drawing yesterday, and prepared the acrylic ink and poured the colors today using the inks. The painting is in the very early stages. I love the way acrylic inks mix and blend when they are poured on wet watercolor paper. I am using 140 lb. cold-pressed Acquerello watercolor paper, and mixtures of Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink, and Liquitex acrylic ink. This is a full sheet of watercolor paper - 22" x 30".
Welcome to Barb's Daily Creations! I have lofty ambitions - I want to post a new drawing or painting every day. The purpose of this, of course is to stay creative and on task artistically even when I may not feel the muses calling, prodding and pushing. I hope that you enjoy my humble efforts, because, ultimately, that is the purpose of creating art - to enrich lives - mine and yours. Thanks for visiting!
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.

Zentangle Revisited
I have been preparing a drawing for pouring a painting, and it has been taking some time. I decided to get away from that and do some Zentangles. This is one I did last night using two tangles - Knightsbridge and Tipple. This is small - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" in size and is done with a micron-pigma black pen.

These are 5 of the 6 painters in my class this session: From left: - Barb Pelly, Dave McNeal, Misty Steinke, Patricia Crawford and Janice Belgiovane. We were missing Cindy Staples this evening. They pretty much finished the Nova Scottia paintings tonight - they worked on these for 2 Mondays, and did a beautiful job on these paintings. They are great students and great people - really good friends! Don't you just love spending time with artists!!!

Grandpa's Pride and Joy finished
I finished "Grandpa's Pride and Joy" this afternoon. This will be the painting for the next class at Riverside Art Center on Monday night. Of course, you all know that I love painting vintage trucks and cars, especially when they are a little beat-up, rusty and oxidized. I also loved the colors in this photograph - the contrasting blues, blue-violets, yellow-greens and oranges.
This painting is 8" x 18" and is painted on 140 lb. Acquarello cold-pressed watercolor paper. I love this paper - it is so responsive and workable. This painting is taken from a photograph by my friend Pamela Baker of www.bakercreekdesigns.com. Thank you, Pamela.

I have started another painting of antique/vintage cars. I finished drawing this today and then applied some masking fluid over the areas of chrome and light that I wanted to preserve. Now I can paint freely and without fear of losing my lightest areas. I am going to apply my paint wet-into-wet loosely and pray (like I always do) that it works out! I just want my blog followers to know that I am still working (since I haven't posted in 10 days) - that I haven't fallen into the great abyss of old, tired artists! (Just almost!!!)
This painting is 8" x 18" and is drawn on 140 lb. Acquerello cold-pressed watercolor paper. It is from a photograph taken by my dear friend, and professional photographer, Pamela Baker (www.bakercreekdesigns.com). Thanks, Pam!

Harbor in Nova Scotia
Well, I have taken a week off from painting to renew and refresh my muses. I got back to painting this weekend and finished this watercolor of a harbor in Nova Scotia. It is from a photo by photographer Garry Black (www.garryblack.com), with his permission, of course.
This painting is 9" x 12" and is painted on 140 lb. cold-pressed watercolor paper. I am planning to use this for my intermediate watercolor class at Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta, Ohio, which starts again next Monday evening, the 13th. I am certain they will enjoy this one.
